Saylor Academy and Centre d’Education à Distance de Côte d’Ivoire ( CED-CI) have recently partnered to offer more flexible free learning opportunities for CED-CI’s communities.
Saylor Academy is a non-profit initiative that believes that education should be accessible to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. As part of our mission, we partner with organizations worldwide to help educate communities so they can improve their lives. Saylor partners with universities as well as nonprofits, NGOs and government entities, to promote skill development worldwide.
The Saylor Academy and CED-CI Partnership
In support of this mission, CED-CI and Saylor Academy will leverage Saylor Academy’s courses to help students build critical 21st century skills. These courses earn free certificates that students can display on LinkedIN, post on Facebook or Twitter or link to in a website or personal portfolio.

CED-CI and Saylor Academy both recognize that people face complex barriers to education and skills, not least of which are time and financial resources. This partnership allows students to develop key skills on-demand, and will help them become even more competitive once they enter the marketplace.

About CED-CI
The Distance learning center in Côte d’Ivoire, called Centre d’ Education à Distance (CED-CI), is a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature (EPIC) placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of State, Ministry of Public Service and Modernization of the Administration (MEFFPMA). The CED-CI is a development centre for managers and agents of public and private administrations and civil society. It was born from the joint desire of the Ivorian government and the World Bank, to improve the skills of staff for better adaptation to the job, mobility or professional promotion, through continuous training and capacity building. In this capacity, it is responsible for:
- Design and coordinate, with a view to meeting the needs of the public, private and parapublic sectors as well as civil society, high-level continuous and specialized training programs through the use of communication technologies
- Develop partnerships for the exchange of experiences between educational institutions, the Development Community and policy makers around the world
- Implement distance learning to ensure the sharing of knowledge necessary for development. Participate in prospective studies and analysis of the needs of specialized training
- To give people the opportunity to train in their environment without travel costs or interruption of presence at their workstation.
